Content Marketing for the Wine Industry

I gave this presentation at the National Wine Marketing Conference in Geneva, Ohio: License to Steal.

What amazed me about this session was the number of wine marketers that are trying to figure out their story - definitely the key thought of the day.

Presentation below includes why, before considering any content marketing tactics, wine marketers must uncover how their passion and expertise can be focused on the pain points of their customers to create the special sauce – the content marketing that truly attracts and retains customers.

Special thanks to the Ohio Grape Industries for sponsoring my session at the conference.

  • The five points on why brands need to become publishers.
  • Eight steps to developing a content marketing strategy for your organization.

Also included some images from the event below.  Outstanding event!

When Does New Media Eclipse Traditional Media? – A Video

Wait for it…right about now.

The video below was recorded via Skype at the New Media 2012 Conference in Langley, Washington. The event was spearheaded by Russell Sparkman from Fusionspark Media, who did an outstanding job putting together the conference.

Russell put the segments together in five minute sessions (so this video is five minutes long).

As you’ll here, I was doing this from the home office (as guests were coming in for my son’s birthday party). Enjoy!

Why Publishing is the Future of Marketing

Just finished this presentation for BrightTalk entitled “Why Publishing is the Future of Marketing”.  It’s 45 minutes long but gives a nice overview of content marketing.

BrightTalk does ask that you register for it, but I believe it’s worth it.

The first 22 minutes goes through they “Why” and the last 20 minutes goes through my Eight-Step Content Marketing Strategy.

If you’d like access to the slides used in this presentation, you can access the content marketing slides here at SlideShare.net.

Hope you enjoy!

We Can All Learn Something from Steve Jobs

Whether you are a speaker, writer or marketing professional, you’ll get something from this presentation by Carmine Gallo, author of “The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs.”

Thanks to Om Malik for bringing this to my attention.

As a side note, great content marketing from Carmine here.  Carmine gives away some golden tips here in this free presentation…so good I’m considering buying his book.

Now that’s content marketing!

Content Strategy is Not about You

Joe Pulizzi in Helsinki

A little delayed in making this available, but here is the full presentation on Content Strategy presented in Finland for my friends at Alma Lehdentekijat last month.

The core concept: content strategy is not about you as a company.  In order to find success in your content marketing activities, the focus needs to be entirely on your customers’ informational needs.

Enjoy!

Take Your Sales Hat Off…On with Your Publishing Hat

Wanted to share this 10 minute video from the good folks at Stella Pop.  In the interview (taken just outside the Occidental restaurant in Washington DC) we cover such concepts as:

  • What if customers actually requested your marketing?
  • Social media doesn’t work without a content strategy.
  • Who’s responsible for the corporate story?
  • To think like a publisher, you have to take your sales hat off…

Thinking about an eBook? Lower the Gates

Interview of me at TippingPoint Labs about creating an eBook that spreads (talking about our recent eBook The Content Marketing Playbook). Remember to:

  • Lower the barriers for people to spread it
  • Develop the network of people that would be willing to share it
  • Make sure the content is best of breed

Content Marketing for Utility Companies – Esource Forum 09

It’s odd talking to utility marketers about marketing – the majority of them have a monopoly in their markets.  In many cases as I’m learning, they are forced to market by the federal government. So, for those and a few other reasons, utility marketers are a little behind the content marketing game.

That said, the expertise in these companies is high, and the potential to create meaningful conversations with customers is certainly possible. Some utilities, such as MLGW, are already doing a great job communicating consistently with customers – and are starting to leverage social media tools such as Twitter and Facebook.

Big thanks to the folks at Esource for having me come in and share some of my thoughts with their members.  This was my third Esource event – a truly great team and fun event.

Below is the presentation I gave to about 150 utility marketers.  Enjoy!
