			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It&#8217;s odd talking to utility marketers about marketing &#8211; the majority of them have a monopoly in their markets.  In many cases as I&#8217;m learning, they are forced to market by the federal government. So, for those and a few other reasons, utility marketers are a little behind the content marketing game.</p>
<p>That said, the expertise in these companies is high, and the potential to create meaningful conversations with customers is certainly possible. Some utilities, such as <a href="http://www.mlgw.com/">MLGW</a>, are already doing a great job communicating consistently with customers &#8211; and are starting to leverage social media tools such as Twitter and Facebook.</p>
<p>Big thanks to the folks at <a href="http://www.esource.com/">Esource</a> for having me come in and share some of my thoughts with their members.  This was my third Esource event &#8211; a truly great team and fun event.</p>
