Changing Your Life in Five Minutes

Taken May 7, 2019 at the OMR Festival in Hamburg, Germany

I was sitting around talking to a group of people recently. One person was really frustrated with their current job situation and said “there’s just nothing I can do.”

I didn’t say anything in response. I mean, I totally get where that person is coming from. They probably feel like they can’t do anything. But they could if they really wanted to.

We tell ourselves these little lies that we are stuck in that relationship that’s not satisfying, with the job that doesn’t challenge us, with our current financial situation. We complain about it, but make no plans to change.

Is that you? If so, here’s a very helpful article on breaking bad habits (so you can accomplish what you want). Basically, we need to figure out what we want, and then create habits that will help us reach our goals. For example, I wanted to finish my first fiction book in 2018 (I finished the first version in January, 2019). To accomplish this goal, I created the habit to write at least one hour per day. Worked like a charm.

Separating your goals into areas works really well: Career/Wealth, Spiritual, Family, Health, Mental and Giving are my areas. I set three or four goals under each one of these categories and then create habits from each one. Here’s how I do it. It really does work. I’ve been using this program for 10 years now and haven’t found a better one.
